Brad Smith was born in Dearborn MI
1971, the world will never be the
same. Graduated Annapolis High
school and started with the Dearborn
Heights Volunteer Fire Dept in 1989.
Brad worked for Dearborn Heights for
7 years as a Volunteer and was hired
by Dearborn in 1997. In May of 2005
Brad was promoted to the Rank of
Fire Lt. as the Assistant Emergency
Management Coordinator AEMC under
Patrolman Tom Harper. In 2006 Cpl
Tom Harper passed away promoting
Brad to the position of Emergency
Management Coordinator EMC for the
City of Dearborn.
While in the office of AEMC and EMC
Brad has sat on several boards
including the
• State focus Group on
Regionalization
• Wayne County Citizens Corps
Chairman
• MEMA 2S Liaison
• Wayne County Local Planning Team
• UASI region Citizen Corps Council
Fire Corps liaison
Brad has been asked to speak
publicly on several topics including
• 2006 Michigan EMS conference
• 2008 MI Citizens Corps Volunteers
Conference
• 2008 MI Citizen Corps Trainer
Conference
• Several local City and County
public organizations
While working in EM Brad has
accomplished the following
• Earned his P.E.M. designation from
the MSP EMHSD
• 170 person CERT team
• 10 person Fire Corps team
• Traveled the state to assist with
the start up and teach CERT programs
• Traveled to MD with a small group
to re-write the national CERT
training curriculum
• Invited to hear the US president
speak on Volunteering at the White
House
Brad also teaches EMT and Paramedic
classes full time on his off duty
hrs as well as several CBRNE, Rad
Nuke classes, and ICS 300-400.
I enjoy the great out doors camping,
fishing, hunting, and playing with
my family. Kelly my wife of 11
years, son Pierce 10 years old and
daughter Willow 8 years old.
